The Gaming Table

Well.  Lets just say I went crazy and threw a lot of cash at GW..  Yeah, madness.

Up shot is I I have 10 Realms of battle boards (1 main set, 2 booster sets) and a fair chunk of terrain   This has been assembled, just needs to be painted.  Thankfully my dear wife has volunteered to help with this so should take some of the sting out it lol.

What I have is;

10 Ruins
a 10x4 table
a set of craters (might look for the old planet strike ones..)
2 Bastions
2 Aegis defense lines
All the guns that come with the above..

Plan is to do the board in brown (kinda muddy brown) as well as the craters with the buildings in greys.  The random accessories'll just get painted as I feel fit at the time.  Once this is all done I'll start looking getting some more.

The Chaos Army

Kinda like doing Chaos.  My second 40k army was Chaos.

This started as a build an army project - sort of like the old White Dwarf Tale of 4 Gamers things.  Then I went abroad for work, that kinda screwed it up.

On the other hand I do have all the bits to make about 1750 to school league rules.  Combine this with an actual wish to collect a chaos force (for about the 3rd or 4th time..) and you have a recipe for something that will likely just keep going and going.  I hope.  If not conversion time :)

Anyway.  This has since expanded out to an idea of a multi legion force.  Death Guard (cos, Nurgle you know) and World Eaters (cos Kharn).  There'll be a mech section (maybe Iron warriors.  Maybe not) and some Word Bearers to tie it up.  What Can I say?  Black Legion seems too Space Smurfish* to me.  The Chaos army is the primary force here.  the 'Nids are there to break it up a wee bit I think.  That or I should just settle down and consign myself to PA for ever more lol ;)

So what do I have that makes this seem a pain? Well..

Death Guard
Typhus (converted and kinda mostly painted)
5 Death Guard Terminators (Mostly painted)
2 7 mane squads of plague marines (mostly painted)
7 Bikers (part assembled..)
30 odd marines worth of Forge World conversion kit
2 and a half boxes of Chaos marines
Forge world special, heavy and bolt guns

That's probably about 2k points there I think..

Word Bearers
1 lord (Dark Vengeance) (Part Painted)
Dark Apostle
7 Chosen (Dark Vengeance + the plastic Asp. Champ) (3 painted)
20 assorted cultists  As well as any old Necromunda models I can find.  May as well you know.

Mech Bit
1 Warpsmith
1 Decimator.
3 Fiends (thinking 2 Forge, 1 mauler)
3 Hell Drakes
1 Hell Brute (from Dark Vengeance)

Yeah, needing to paint that lot..
Should be noted my losing streak with my Death Guard is kinda epic.  But hey - who cares?

Now my first task is to stick the guys with finished bases to their bases, finish painting the ones that still need the bases finished then get them stuck down.  In future until I'm doing something real special with the base the feet get stuck down and based like that...  Basing separately is a pain.  Basing is a pain.
Once that's done get them termies finished, and get the bikes assembled, posed, based and painted.  After that?  One Daemon Engine.  Just go like that.  Or Paint one non DG unit along with a DG unit.  Break it up a wee bit.

*Space Smurfs.  Ultra Marines.  So named cos they is blue and generic with someone who can do anything.

The Crazy World Eater Thing..

It all started with the really, really good idea I had.  I needed somewhere to put all the odd and random Marine conversions I was mulling over more than was probably healthy (that and the daemon prince/defiler thing..  This was just after the last Good Chaos 'dex* had hit).  SO I thought, why not just build an entire Marine army based around this - after all, Marines have to be easy to convert right?

Yeah.  Right.  One week process per model.  This doesn't include painting by the way, none of them currently are. This generally involves a near total pose change and a few other odd bits (and no, none of them are finished thus far - doing veterans..).

As to the World Eater bit.  We were talking about the idea of Dornian Heresy, so I thought doing that as World Eaters would be fun...  So thus an army of completely converted models (in progress) was born.

I have to be nuts....

Anyway - I have 4 models with all the basics done on them.  I just have to do the detailing (some crazy scheme involving liquid green stuff..  Will let people know how that goes).  I'll post the pictures when I can a) remember where I backed them up b) get off my arse and take some new ones.

*That's the 3.5 ed one.

A kinda mission statement

Lets give this a go then, shall I?
Main aim here is to catalog and record my current (and then on going) hobby bits.  Hopefully motivating me to actually get off my arse and make a solid crack at it.  Probably mainly GW, but hey.
Currently I've got this lot on the go....
Chaos MarinesOne grand army (in theory...), currently the plan is for 4 sections:
  • Word Bearers - to tie it together from a fluff point of view
  • Death Guard - My core army, tbh this is likely to be where I put most of my points
  • World Eaters - Some close combat fun based every one favorite nice guy: Kharn
  • Iron Warriors/mech - tbh might just be a generic section by this is going to be my mech contingent. With a focus   on Daemon Engines
Tyranids
I have a lot of Nids, I would like a nid army..
Gaming board and terrain. This is currently a base 2 x 10 made up of GW realms of battle boards. Terrain more GW stuff (hey, I had a large wind fall..) Craters, buildings, a couple of Aegis and some bastions. Sucker ain't I :S
The World Eaters 'Insanity' projectYeah. It seemed such a good idea at the time. Think Kill team (the GW events). Think about what people do with the models? Yeah. That's the aim. On a larger scale.
Do posts later on that, then my insanity will be clear.
Oh, might also repost some of my 'Dex guides. And maybe do more, they're kinda fun to write.
